We are proud to be home to Cape Town’s oldest producing vineyard – a single row of 25 Muscat d’Alexandrie vines. These vines were planted around the 1930’s, dated to 1938, based off an aerial photograph of the estate from then.

Proudly registered with the Old Vine Project, we’re grateful for the expertise of Rosa Kruger (founder of the Old Vine Project) who personally assisted in precision pruning. Her expertise led to a healthy harvest of this treasured vines.

We were furthermore honoured to welcome the Mayor of Cape Town, Geordin Hill- Lewis, to Meerendal to celebrate this historic milestone and officially recognize the single row of Muscat d’Alexandrie as part of Cape Town’s living legacy.
